Imphal/Silchar (Assam), Nov 16 (IANS) Curfew has been clamped in Manipur's Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, and Thoubal districts on Saturday after widespread attacks in different places, including on residences of ministers and MLAs, by mobs following the news of the recovery of the bodies of six missing women and children in violence-hit Jiribam district, officials said.

Amid escalation of violence, AFSPA reimposed in 6 police station areas in Manipur

New Delhi/Imphal, Nov 14 (IANS) Amid the escalating violence, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday reimposed the stringent Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 six police station areas of five Manipur districts, including the recent violence-hit Jiribam, to give more powers to the army and paramilitary forces to take stringent action against the militants and other armed cadres.
