Acharya attended the 2nd convocation of Rabindranath Tagore University at Hojai on Tuesday, officials said.
The Governor expressed his happiness that most of the degrees awarded have been received by female students, with two out of three gold medal winners being women.
He stressed the importance of equal opportunities for women and their participation in research and development for the region's social and economic development.
Speaking on the occasion, Acharya congratulated the students who received their degrees, emphasising the significance of hard work, and dedication for their academic success.
He also took note of the support of the parents, guardians, and teachers which also play a vital role in the success of the students. Acharya highlighted the university's role in making India a research and innovation hub.
He hailed the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 which is also acting as a catalyst to the growth of quality research and development.
He emphasised the importance of education in holistic development, citing Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's vision of education as a means of acquiring knowledge and complete development of personality.
The Governor encouraged the graduating students to maintain the honour and prestige of great saints of Assam, including Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Srimanta Shankardev, and Sri Sri Madhavdev.
He advised them to work with the spirit of "Nation First" and always remain faithful to their work. The convocation was attended by Vice Chancellor Gauhati University Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University Prof. Madhavendra Dutta Chowdhury, Registrar, Deans, Faculty members of the University, and students.
Earlier in the day the Governor along with the First Lady of Assam Lumding Kalibari paid his obeisance there for the wellbeing and prosperity of the people of the State.
