Paris, Sep 6 (IANS): India's Simran Sharma missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the Women's 100m—T12 final in the Paralympic Games in Paris here on Thursday. Simran clocked 12.31 seconds in the four-player final. She made a great effort in the final but could not get into the medal position as she was hampered by a slow start and could not make up for it.

New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sachin Sarjerao Khilari on winning a silver medal in the Men’s Shotput F46 competition at the Paralympics Games in Paris on Wednesday. Sachin won the silver with an Asian Record of 16.32 metres. He finished behind Canada’s Greg Stewart, who registered a best throw of 16.38, his season’s best.

Paris, Sep 3 (IANS) Indian para-sprinter Deepthi Jeevanji won her maiden bronze in the women's 400m T20 category in the ongoing Paris Paralympics here on Tuesday. Deepthi clocked the timing of 55.82 seconds at the Stade de France to finish behind Ukraine's Yuliia Shuliar (55.16 secs) and Turkiye's world record holder Aysel Onder (55.23 secs).

Nairobi, Sep 3 (IANS) Ugandan marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei, who recently competed in the Paris Olympics, is fighting for her life after being subjected to a brutal attack by a former boyfriend in western Kenya. The 33-year-old athlete suffered severe burns to over 75% of her body after being doused with petrol and set on fire at her home in the small town of Endebess, where she had been training.
